A really, really hard week...Week 14
Hi everyone! New week here, and a lot happened. I don't have any pictures, but I have a lot of experiences.
The first is of a woman we met. She lives alone cause her husband left her. She had three kids, one girl, and two boys, one of them with downs. However she lost her daughter when she was 34 years old. She has lived a hard life. When I first contacted her, she seemed like we didn't want to talk, but I felt inspired to share something about the plan of salvation and the healing power of Jesus Christ. And that led to us giving her a blessing and then that led to her having questions about the Book of Mormon, tithing, and why we are called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We meet with her tomorrow, so that will be fun :)
The next thing is about Cesar, the most recent convert in Acuna. He started asking a lot of questions about phylisophy and things like that. Then he ended up not coming to church this week, so that's sad. We are really starting to worry about him.
Today we were playing volleyball, and this news reporter/TV guy came up to us and said "I'd like to film you guys playing volleyball, interview one of you, and then share that film and invite people here (at the church) to play volleyball and get to know you guys!" So, hopefully that will lead to a lot of new contacts :)
The last thing is more on the random side. I was following my companion into a store. It was really small and I'm really big (weighing now at 210 pounds). My companion moved into me and I tried moving out of the way, bumped into a table and knocked over a speaker. Yeah, sad. But now I have a speaker haha!
Just kidding! That was not the last thing. The last thing I want to do is share what I have been reading in the book of mormon. About the Nephites against the Lamanites in the book of Alma. This is what I have found: We are only blessed by the Lord (protected in this case for the Nephites), when we are righteous. What is righteous? A synonym of righteous is virtuous. Well, that doesn't help. What is the definition of virtuous? Well... that's what I'm trying to figure out myself! The answers are in the scriptures!!! So, my challenge to you all is to READ THE SCRIPTURES. Set aside time every day to STUDY the scriptures. Pray, night and day. Fast (especially with your families). These are the ways we can prepare ourselves to receive revelation. And when you receive it, follow it.
I hope you all had a wonderful week. I also hope you had the oppurtunity to watch the Christmas devtional. If not, then my suggestion is to go and watch it ;) Sorry everyone. I have not had any time to take pictures and you forget when working. I'll try and be better. Until next week!
Keep the Faith!
