Expect the Unexpected...Week 10

¡Feliz Halloweeno! Wow what a crazy week!

This week was zone conference and we had a blast! We had wonderful interviews with President Cahoon and had a blast playing volleyball! It was good to meet and be reacquainted with those people in my zone.

We have two baptisms planned. One for a woman named Yadami, and for a young man named Cesar. Both have wonderful backrounds and families! Yadami is a single mom of two children, and Cesar is the oldest in his family of 2 kids and married parents. This past sunday was fast suday and Cesar came with us. He said to me, "I'll go up if you go up". So we both went up and he bore a very powerful testimony.

We also had an experience to meet with a guy that was chopping wood. He and his wife are both deaf, and can't speak Spanish very well. What happened next was incredible. He started making motions with his hands and I started to understand him! The gift of tongues (or hands) is real. I took seminary with students with special needs and I had the opportunity to learn some sign language there. But I could understand him and I helped him chop the wood. But at the same time, I can really see that my Spanish has improved greatly! My companion has trusted me to go on a split with another elder that is being trained because he trusts my Spanish. That was such a compliment to me.

We have also found some investigators that speak English! It is wonderful to see that I have to translate words from Spanish to be able to speak English with them and teach lessons in English.

I also checked my weight on a scale after having a week of a lot of gringas (a food that is delicious but will make any human being gain weight). I have gained 10 pounds, but I don't feel or seem fat, which is good. I am keeping up good strength, flexibility, and speed and I love to eat veggies and fruit and Peanut Butter and Jelly!

My challenge to you all this week is to expect the unexpected! Many things will come your way. Before complaining or celebrating about those things, think: Why did this come?... and... What am I going to do with this?

I know God lives and he loves us. He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins, die, and rise again to allow us to become like our Heavenly Father.

Keep the Faith!

With love,
Elder Taylor
