Conference and Free Time...Week 5
Hi everyone! This week has been a great week with conference! But first things first: I understand that there is a problem with the pictures and everything with asking permission to view. I'm doing my best to figure that out, but it's difficult to do that while learning Spanish and serving the Lord. Just know I'm trying to figure it out and I'll send pictures soon. Another thing... I was able to see Elders Austin Jensen and Jacob Rogers here in the CCM. I haven't been able to get a picture with Austin yet, but I'll send it out soon.
Now... What a great week, right?? General conference was amazing! I can now say that I stayed awake for every session and the all of my questions were answered (the ones that I wrote before conference of course). It's amazing how the Lord can put things and people in our way to uplift, inspire, or if needed CHANGE OUR DIRECTION.
Today, I get to go to the temple for the second time during my stay here at the CCM. I'm hoping I can receive further instruction in how I should live my daily life. Recently however, we had a devotional from the CCM presidency and they pretty much told us the hard truth that we could all be working harder and speaking more Spanish. This helped me think of how I can prioritize my time and be able to do more here at the CCM before I leave to Saltillo. I then decided to always carry a book around with me so I can constantly be studying conjugations of verbs in all tenses. Sooo, my challenge to you this week is to try and organize your day as best as you can, and try and always fill it with something. That way, you will be able to keep your day filled with things that are good for the soul. I suggest picking a conference talk each day, and during your free time, read it. I promise that you will be enlightened by the spirit and receive further instruction from our Heavenly Father.
I forgot to mention that I leave the CCM Monday, October 9th at 3:30 in the morning (Mexico City time) and am happy to say I will be able to call home and talk to my sweet mother.
Also, shout out to my good friend Samuel Mele for getting his mission call! I'm glad you made that decision brother!
Wish me luck!
Elder Simon Taylor
Notes from Mom: We sent some items with one of Simon's long time friends, Austin Jensen, as Austin was entering the MTC this week. He was so kind to deliver them for us! I asked Simon to check on Austin and send pictures when he can. Austin got there safe and sound and Simon sent a message:
"Austin is doing great. I was able to see him at the gym, but I haven't been able to take a picture with him. I was able to take pics with Jacob though. So when you get them, send those to his mom.
We go to the temple today from noon to 5 my time so I'll do my best to email more.
I leave the CCM at 3:30 in the morning on October 9th. I can call when I get to the airport and when I get to Monterrey, but then I have a bus to Saltillo.
I'm still trying to figure out how the wifi works and stuff, I've just been busy. I don't have time rn cause my companion is getting antsy. I love you and miss you lots."
It was a good week, and I'm so grateful for General Conference. It never fails to uplift and provide exactly the message that we are needing at that time in our lives.
